Sg.Lembing Kuantan

A tired but fun hiking trip though.... I started my journey to Kuantan in the evening alone this time and let me think i had never been alone while going for a short holiday. Well sometimes going somewhere alone never seems to be a bad thing too, it was just no one talk to you during the journey and what to do, just sing with the radio the whole journey.
Arrived at Marcus's house in Kuantan approximately 4 something in the evening, take a rest, then followed by strolled around the local well known Teluk Chempedak beach. I was hoping there's a place like this in KL so the people can hang around with the mother nature not only the shopping mall.

The next day, Marcus and i woke up 5.30AM in the morning to get ready for the Sg.Lembing mountain to catch the sunrise. Kuanatn to Sg.Lembing took about half an hour drive.  We reached there roughly 6.15AM and after leaving our backpack at the rest house, Sg.Lembing mountain here we come.  Generally this mountain wasn't hard to hike because there were staircase along the the way and half way mud roads up to the peak. But the slanting staircase make both of us totally exhausted, i think this is normal for those who stay a little too long in the city without any exercise. Anyway we were still make it up to the peak. Surprisingly there's no others besides two of us.  Air was so refreshing and the sea of clouds right in front your eyes witness the beauty of the great mother nature.

Well Marcus said i was lucky that i can see the sunrise because a lot of first timer to this mountain didn't make it. The sunrise was breathtaking, gonna share some shots of Sg.Lembing mountain sunrise here.

The sunrise was totally worth of our exhausted body and cramped leg.  Well we didn't go back straight away after sunrise, we continued our adventure where Marcus's dad told us followed the small path on the right hand side facing the sunrise will lead us to another peak. There was a big abandoned mine shaft.  So we decided to explored it.

The picture shown above was taken at the half way heading to the mine shaft.  Arrow show at the picture below was our destination. Path was narrow and full of weeds. It took us about 40 minutes to reach there. Our sport shoes and trousers are all wet. But it was indeed a very good jungle trekking experience.

Along the way, the landscape was breathtaking...

We reached the cliff after 30-40 minutes of walk, can't really remember.  Guess what it was completely disappointing, there was nothing spectacular except that abandoned mines shaft.  Although it was kinda big but it was full of weeds, didn't see anything.  According to Marcus's dad, another 2 hours walk start from the cliff will reached the foot of mountain. We didn't do it, we make a U turn.  And finally reaching to the foot of mountain around 10.30 am. Tired but a pleasant hike. Pictures taken below while we're on our way back.

Back to the rest house and get ourself cleaned, then followed by the most anticipated breakfast at the local hawker centre which was the only one as well.  You gonna go earlier while looking for food at the hawker centre cause by the time we get there, most of the stall was already closed.  After the breakfast, rest for a little while then we continued our journey to explore the Sg. Lembing village.

Sg. Lembing was formerly a mining industry, running by British company named PCCL, further details please refer to wikipedia or visit Sg. Lembing museum.

Later in the afternoon, we went to the hot spring and the crystal clear river was kinda a good place to go picnic and hang out. Check out the entrance of the underground mine shaft along the way.  There are 4 drawbridge in the village for the villagers to cross the river.

Well, it was almost 4.30 in the evening, gotta go back to the rest house. Gonna recommend this Sg.Lembing Rest House to those who wanna visit Sg.Lembing.  Located 5 minutes walk to the foot of the mountain. Facilities are more than complete, they got their own kitchen, karaoke, lots of indoor games like 'mahjung' and so on. For those who love BBQ, you can do that just right at the backyard of the rest house with the superb river view. Few pictures taken as below.

Finally i had to say this place is good for a short city escape, get yourself into the mother nature, feel the fresh air, bath in the river... WOW just loved it. Well i'll definitely come back but gonna try the mountain biking then. Not forgot to show this which i think this could be the smallest petrol station i ever seen so far.
