After long wait from early of the month and finally........ We started our journey from KL to Pekan late at night. The journey took us about 2 and half hours to arrive at Pekan. By the time we arrived at the boatman house it was almost 2 o'clock in the morning. After checked in, we still managed to watched the FIFA world cup match between Cameroon vs Denmark and the result of 1:2 gave me a good sleep later that night.
We woke up early in the morning the next day around 6.45 am and went out for breakfast. Not forget the small town nasi lemak, nasi dagang, pulut panggang, and some Malay cakes were definitely worth a try.
After the breakfast and the sea sickness pills, we were all ready to rock. We rented the big boat which was equipped with 2 single stroke 200cc engine. I believed this would definitely shorten our time to reach the fishing spot and less shaky as well. This boat was way bigger than the first trip i joined my bunch of fishing enthusiasts before. Trust me the bigger the boat the more comfortable way of experience while fishing.
Finished loading our fishing gears and equipments, the journey to the deep blue sea began. We stopped after 20 mins and the boatman said we can start to fish the squid. I had totally no idea what lure to used for. However i was lucky enough to get one on hook after the lesson from the boatman and this was my first ever squid in my entire life. There was no pictures for this session cause everyones were exciting and busy fishing squid. Here's the picture of lure we used that download from google image,
The squids we caught were later cut into slices by the boatman for "shashimi". The squid was rinsed with seawater then only sent into our stomach. Seawater salty and sweet chewy taste from the fine texture of squid itself had brought our sense of taste to a higher level. This was the true freshness from the ocean i ever tasted. Trust me you won't get this freshness from any 5 star japanese restaurant. We left the spot after a while as the boatman said it was yet the squid mating season or else the chances of getting 1kg squid was piece of cake.
I was tired after an hour of casting and jigging ended up nothing, then i decided to go for bottom fishing as this was far easier that you just wait for the fish to get hooked. Beside waiting i got another fishing rod with apollo lure. It was absolutely my lucky day with lot of fish hooked although most of them were just small fish.
Late in the afternoon, everyone seems tired but at this time one of my buddy, Eddie's caught had brought everyone fishing spirit back. Guess what Eddie's got ..... nearly 4-5 kg Sagai (Indian Treavally)
Eddie with his Sagai
Sean & me with the Sagai
Well that's the biggest so far he ever caught according to him. Cool man! Right after that, it was my turn to show off. Actually i didn't aware that my rod was bended as i was still busy with the rod with apollo lure. I pulled my rod immediately as i realize, lucky the fish didn't get away. Fight for a little while here came the fish ..... amber jack, weight i guess less than 2kg, i was happy enough as this was the biggest i ever caught, LOL.
After few more spots and there's still no big fish caught and it was late in the evening around 6 o'clock, we decided to go back with 2 full icebox of fishes.
Well, backed on the shore nearly 7.30pm, and some pictures taken before we cleaned ourselves and ready for the fish feast!
Our fish feast later the night,
Finally i wanna say this was really enjoy and memorable trip with my fishing buddies here, thanks guys! See you guys in our next trip!
